I wish to express my sincere disappointment regarding your August article, “The Red Envelope, please.” In the interest of thoroughness and journalistic fairness, I would have expected your publication to seek comment or reaction to the article prior to publication.

At the very least, I would have thought you would require disclosure of the fact that NetConcepts, one of the authors of the article in which my company SearchDex is so transparently impugned, is a direct competitor of SearchDex.

Of course, in editorial pieces we cannot object to insubstantial content featuring “link juice” and “meaty content,” even if we do find it difficult or impossible to respond from within the objective, quantitative framework in which we provide our services.

We welcome the opportunity to convey our opinions with equal editorial latitude by joining the list of reviewers, whose opinions on matters of SEO are free to be expressed regardless of merit.
